A Piece of Mind
I try to capture, to visualize, to auralize, and to form a concrete experience when I'm doing my thinkings daily. I've always been one of those people who overthink and passively produce thousands of thoughts each day. Even though most of the times these thoughts are merely meaningless, or just signs of stress or tiredness, their presence and how they spring up catch my interest.
My inspirations in creating A Piece of Mind are from the observations of how my sensitive perception capability disturbs my mind, and how the psycho-spiritual faculty help me to recollect and to maintain awareness of reality. Both of these two experiences are not marked by good or bad, but rather being perceived as momentary feelings.
The styles I followed are Film Poem and Found Footage. Thoughts are abstract concepts, but audios and voiceover helped me to imitate and simulate a space to drag the audience into my subconsciousness. Experiences are real and rough, so I chose some found footage from my past collections and online to merge with my voiceover explanation.
I also followed an aesthetic style that is colorful and dream-like. The style helps me to create a distanced and vague sense, to portray a pattern of my wandering minds. The general editing techniques are continuously bursting new imageries and audios onto the canvas, pacing at some points (where describing overthinking), and smooth transitions (where describing awareness). The sound effects intended to be subtle and to spark certain emotions where there are needs.
